Recipe of Sobat Dish

Ingredients:

For Dough:
  • 2 cups wheat flour

  • Water (as needed)

  • Salt (to taste)

For Soup (Yakhni):
  • 1 kg chicken, cut into pieces

  • 1 large onion, sliced

  • 2 tomatoes, chopped

  • 2 tablespoons ginger-garlic paste

  • 1/2 cup cooking oil or ghee

  • 1 teaspoon turmeric powder

  • 1 teaspoon red chili powder

  • Salt (to taste)

  • Water (as needed)

For Garnish:
  • Fresh coriander leaves, chopped

  • Green chilies, sliced

  • Lemon wedges

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Dough:

    • In a large bowl, mix wheat flour, salt, and water to make a soft dough.

    • Divide the dough into small balls and roll them out into thin chapatis.

  2. Cook the Chapatis:

    • Cook the chapatis on a hot griddle until they are lightly browned. Keep them aside.

  3. Prepare the Yakhni (Soup):

    • In a large pot, heat oil or ghee. Add sliced onions and cook until they are golden brown.

    • Add ginger-garlic paste and sauté for a minute.

    • Add chicken pieces and cook until they are browned.

    • Add chopped tomatoes, turmeric powder, red chili powder, and salt. Cook until the tomatoes are soft.

    • Add enough water to cover the meat and bring it to a boil. Reduce the heat and let it simmer until the meat is tender, and the broth is flavorful.

  4. Assemble Sohbat:

    • Break the chapatis into small pieces and place them in a serving dish.

    • Pour the hot yakhni (soup) over the broken chapatis.

  5. Garnish:

    • Garnish with chopped coriander leaves, sliced green chilies, and lemon wedges.

  6. Serve Hot:

    • Sohbat is traditionally served hot, and it is meant to be a communal dish where everyone eats from the same pot.
